Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh City

I still can't believe we are in Vietnam. After a very long day of travel, we made it to Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) is a big overwhelming city with about 6 million people. We shopped a lot, ate a lot of good food and had fun wandering around the city. We also took a cyclo ride and Julian got his haircut. We got massages and the person even walked on our backs. We stayed in the touristy part of town with lots of hotels and restaurants crammed together along with many travel/tour businesses and lots of people begging and trying to sell stuff to us.

View from our hotel
3 people on one motorbike - we saw up to 4-5 people (entire families) on one motor bike

People transported all kinds of items and animals on their motor bikes. See the lady sitting backwards with the huge baskets.
Me on our first cyclo ride. We also rode on the back of motorbikes.
The follwoing quote is from Julian's journal: "I also find myself thinking of the time that I spent in central america because there are lots of poor people here but there is also this vitality, optimism and good humor everywhere you go. I guess people can get by and be happy with some clothes, a warm dry place to sleeep, good food and the company of friends."

Tourist attraction ideas can be so strange ... this reminds me of an article I read last week about a pro-military amusement park idea that the Army turned down recently. It was going to feature rides that simulated battle, jumping out of airplanes, and other "fun war stuff."
